We carried out some 3D laser scanning on a complex structure at a water treatment works (WTW) where the 3D point cloud will be used to create as an as-build BIM model.

Because of difficult access to some areas plus the health and safety implications we used an inverted tripod to carefully lower the scanner into hard-to-reach areas. 

The highly accurate 3D point cloud is a an as-built representation of the structures interior and exterior features.

Getting this level of detail is crucial for creating as-built BIM model that reflects the actual state of a structure.
