The ProDroneWorx team deployed an innovative method for inspecting a 35m internal building riser using a 360 degree camera mounted on a pulley rope system.
This technique enabled a complete visual survey of the riser shaft without placing a person inside the space thus delivering significant gains in safety, efficiency, and data quality. The system used measurement markings to allow frame-by-frame location referencing.
As buildings grow more complex, the need for safe, efficient, and accurate inspection methods has never been greater. One area that poses a consistent challenge to surveyors and maintenance teams is the internal building riser - those narrow, vertical shafts used to route mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services between floors.
Traditionally, inspecting risers requires scaffolding, rope access, or confined space entry, all of which carry inherent safety risks and logistical challenges. Not anymore..
